When the sun is shining the white sand an the turquoise water is like something you would find overseas, it’s a must-visit for families but also for photographers and nature lovers alike. Low tide reveals hidden caves, secluded spots and rock pools perfect for exploring with the kids before enjoying nice picnic nestled in the rocks. The car park is right on the top of the hill so it is a bit of a walk to the cove but well worth it, there is also a cafe at the bottom serving drinks and food. As with many Cornish beaches and coves at high tide the waves can get on the big side which is great for body boarding but if you have little ones it may be worth checking the tide times.

2. Porthcurno Beach: History Meets Beauty

Porthcurno Beach is a jewel in Cornwall’s crown, with soft white sand and crystal-clear waters set against towering cliffs. Just a stone’s throw away is the famous Minack Theatre, an open-air amphitheater carved into the cliffs, offering a unique cultural experience. You can find their upcoming shows on their website. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round and there is a car park at the top which is a 5-10 minute walk.

 3. Sennen Cove: Surf and Sunshine

For surfers and adventurers, Sennen Cove is a dream destination. Located near Land’s End, this golden-sand beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts and families alike. Surf schools cater to all skill levels, while the expansive sands are perfect for beach games and picnics. The parking is right by the beach making it perfect for families and surfers, there is also a beach bar serving food and drinks so you really can make a real day of it.

 4. Perranporth Beach: Tides of Fun

Perranporth Beach is a vast, family-friendly destination with something for everyone. Its natural tidal pool offers a safe spot for children to splash around, and is one of our favorite parts of the beach. The sea provides big rolling waves perfect for surfing and body boarding and the nearby pubs and cafes make it easy to grab a bite after a day in the sun.

5. Watergate Bay: Adventure Awaits

Spanning two miles, Watergate Bay is an adventurer’s playground. This wide, sandy beach is ideal for surfing, kite surfing, and beach sports. Its unspoiled beauty and excellent facilities make it a hit with both families and thrill-seekers. The car park is close by and although there are several points of access to the beach the main one is straight through between the hotels. Dogs are also allowed all year round.

6. Polzeath Beach: A Surfer’s Paradise

Polzeath Beach is a top spot for surfing, with consistent waves that attract both beginners and pros. The nearby amenities make it a great choice for families, while the surrounding village offers plenty of charming cafes and shops. Our personal favorite is to get a takeaway stone bakes pizza from the beach cafe after a late afternoon play in the sea. As the tide goes out large rock pools come on show many of which are deep enough for children to swim in giving them a safe spot to enjoy away from the big waves!

7. Godrevy Point: Nature Lovers Dream

With its famous lighthouse and rugged formations Godrevy is a place with a great deal of beauty and there is a national trust car park and a cafe a short walk from the beach. Godrevy has some fantastic rock pools and vast rocky areas to adventure out on to do some marine spotting and fishing. Seals are frequent visitors of Godrevy and its not uncommon to spot dolphins in the near distance. From the beach is an incredible view of the lighthouse which also attracts a wide range of birds so if you have binoculars it's definitely worth bringing them.
